A New Era as a Dual Language Magnet School

In fall of 2024, Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) announced an exciting new chapter for Paragon Mills Elementary: beginning the following school year, we are officially becoming a Dual Language Magnet School.
This change celebrates the incredible diversity of our community and gives students the opportunity to thrive academically while preparing for a globally connected future.
What Dual Language Means for Our Students
Starting in Kindergarten and expanding each year, students at Paragon Mills will learn in both English and Spanish every day. Through this model, children not only gain a second language but also build stronger academic foundations across subjects.

A Personal Story: Mrs. Negron’s Journey
This mission is deeply personal for many in our community. Our very own Mrs. Negron, Paragon Mills’ art teacher and the 2024 MNPS District Teacher of the Year, knows firsthand the power of language.
As a child, she moved from Puerto Rico to New Jersey, where she faced the overwhelming challenge of navigating school in a language she did not yet understand. Fortunately, her district offered Spanish immersion programs that supported her transition and set her on the path to success.
“Knowing that I was coming to a school where my language was embraced and my voice was heard in both languages, made me feel right at home.”
Today, Mrs. Negron brings that same empathy and passion to her students, ensuring that every child at Paragon Mills feels seen, supported, and empowered to grow in two languages: "Coming to Paragon Mills, and being a part of this neighborhood, makes being bilingual something to be proud of. It is a superpower!”
